What is involved in competition dance?
In the competitive dance world, there is a lot of love and compassion for all things performing. We are looking for children who want to be part of a strong team, with friends who rely on each other and grow and learn award-winning choreography together. This is perfect for a dancer who likes to perform and wants to take dancing to the next level.
Dancers ages 4 -8 are required to take a minimum of 3 classes per week (2 techniques and 1 additional), and ages 9 and older are required to take a minimum of 4 classes per week (3 techniques and 1 additional).
Teams:
- Petite competition team (ages 4-6): 1 routine per year and 1 routine per additional class they take
- Mini competition team (ages 6-9): 2 routines per year and 1 routine per additional class they take
- Hip Hop competition team (8-12) 1 routine per year and 1 routine per additional class they take
- Acro competition team (7-12) 1 routine per year and 1 routine per additional class they take
- Tap competition team (7-12) 1 routine per year and 1 routine per additional class they take
- Junior competition team (ages 9-12): 2-3 routines per year and 1 routine per additional class they take.
- Junior Elite competition team (ages 12-15): 2-3 routines per year and 1 routine per additional class they take.
- Senior Elite competition team (ages 15-19): 2-3 routines per year and 1 routine per additional class they take.
- Diamond Elite competition team This is our highest level of competitive teams and is by invitation only.
All teams will participate in our annual Christmas recital, and 3 National Dance Competitions, and perform at several local events throughout the year. Extra mandatory rehearsals will be added if necessary.
Competitions will be scheduled from February to June.
Attendance is required in every class to build a strong team and support each other. Please let the teacher know when the dancer is sick or has to miss a class.
The dress code for all competitive dancers is grey shorts, black top or all black. NO hoodies or loose clothing.
Solo/duet routines for a competition are available to all competitive dancers if they are able and willing to practice their routines on their own. The studio can be available to them if the space is free.
